Three groups of papers: business papers and receipts, mostly related to Joshua Day; Civil War correspondence with Joshua or Hannah Day from Samuel Johnston (106th Illinois Infantry), Charles W. Stanton (114th Illinois Infantry), Charles P. Wiley, Hannah's cousin (38th Illinois Infantry), John W. Sumter (106th Illinois Infantry), several other soldiers whose regiments are unknown, and some relatives in Massachusetts; postwar correspondence with relatives, especially in Nebraska about conditions there (1869-1886).
